Hi! My name is Morgan Bellinger.
I live near Oakland's Lake Merritt with my wife, Jennifer. I meet clients, edit photos, and assemble Polaroid albums in a shared photography studio space in uptown Oakland, near Piedmont.
Halfway through my fifth year at Arizona State University, I discovered how much I loved taking pictures for newspapers. My timing was impeccable, as this was right at the beginning of the Great Recession and also amidst massive layoffs in the newspaper industry.
However, it turns out the same skills that make for great documentary newspaper photography translate exceptionally well to wedding photography.
It also turns out that I grew up in one of the most beautiful places to get married in the world, the San Francisco Bay Area.
I moved back up from Tempe, AZ and you can see what I've done since then in the "wedding selections" link on the left.
I usually take anywhere between 3,000 and 6,000 photos on a wedding day. My goal and the driving force behind my photography is to make sure that every single one is totally fresh and brand new.
In 10 or 20 or 50 years, when you look at your wedding photos, I want you to see you and your partner and your family and friends first - not a particular photographic style or trend. I want you to look like you.
The excellent Olivia Smartt took my headshot, and I'm very grateful to know her and to occasionally work alongside her at weddings!
